General Tab

This is where you can change the general options that affect CSE HTML Validator Professional's Batch Wizard. Note that the standard and lite editions do not support the Batch Wizard.

Tool To Use

Select the tool to use when processing the targets. You can only use one tool at a time. The default tool to use is the validator. More information about using the tools.

Notes
  • When using the validator tool, you may be able to select an additional option that lets you further specify what type of validation you would like to perform, such as "errors only" or "errors and warnings only". You must be using a configuration file that supports this additional option or only "normal" will appear.
  • The spell check tool may not ignore words contained between the opening and end tag for elements that are set to "ignore to close" (normally the "script" and "style" elements), while the validator tool would ignore these words. This is normal operation.

Miscellaneous

  • Maximum targets - Helps to control processing in some situations by limiting the processing to a maximum number of targets. For instance, when following links, you can set this to help keep the wizard from "going out of control" by validating too many documents. The default is 1000. Possible values are 1 to 5000. (New v4.50)
  • After validating a target list, set process to 'No' for the targets with no errors, warnings, or bad links - Check this box to automatically set the process status to 'No' for targets that have no errors, warnings, or bad links after a target list is validated. This allows you to concentrate only on the documents that have problems and to go back and revalidate them without unnecessarily revalidating the targets that have no problems. This option is enabled by default.
  • Automatically set the I flag to include subdirectories when adding a directory target - Check this box if you want HTML Validator to automatically set the I flag (to include subdirectories) when you add a directory target to the target list. This option is enabled by default. (New v4.51)
  • Automatically open HTML report after validating a target list - Check this box to automatically open an HTML report after it is compiled. This option is enabled by default.
  • Automatically AutoSize columns when a new target list is loaded - Check this option to automatically resize the list columns in the Target List tab when a new target list is loaded. Each column should be resized to completely fit the largest item in the column. This option is enabled by default.
  • Double-clicking a target opens target in editor - Check this box to open file and URL targets in the editor when they are double-clicked in the target list. If unchecked, the properties dialog box is opened for the target when a target is double-clicked. This option is enabled by default. (New v4.50)
  • Display verbose messages - Check this box to display more messages in the Batch Progress Tab during list processing. If this box is unchecked, only the more important messages will be displayed. This option is not enabled by default. (New v4.50)
